Abandoned in the black of night
At a place to all unknown
An infinite number of roads, which is right?
Which will carry you home?
Signs and advice beware
Which should I believe?
Do they know or even care?
Or do they wish to deceive?
No compass will take you there
No star or sun will guide you on
No paper God will answer your prayer
Only footprints of where you've gone
Once you choose, there's no going back
Some uphill some down
Through desert or mountain crack
Some deserted, some through town
You may walk with others on the way
Temporary travelers in time
But it's only your choices today
That'll say whether you descend or climb
Nothing more than you can carry
Highways, trails, unmarked ground
Forests, canyons, marsh, prairie
Across seas and rivers with bridges unsound
It doesn't matter which road you choose
They all lead to the same destination
It's only a different journey or cruise
You'll find home in your final expiration
