I Wish

he kept telling me he loved me 
I would tell him he didn't 
I would tell him he didn't know me 

a part of me hoped it was true 
I wanted someone to say "I love you" and mean it,
to say it with their chest and no doubt in their mind

I wish he had loved me 
I wish he had loved me enough to respect me 
I wish he had loved me enough to not hurt me 
I wish he had loved me enough
