Panel Show Prophet

AuburnScribbler

Obvious views repeating

and droll obsequious lies,

is what you’ll find on daises;

that force feed reasons why,

the way should be divided,

and common sense be damned,

as constant row, is our life,

the result of our great plan,

talking will be incessant,

and anger will be born,

but in moderated society,

red flags for those who’ve sworn,

like a worn-out pan that boils,

yesterday’s stew and beans,

you’ll see visual equivalent,

upon the dirty screens,

the same old, same old noise,

where the speech won’t be brave,

as keeping to the codex,

means no needed change,

you’ll see them all playing,

telling some fake news,

with their wallets filling up,

as their bets will never lose,

even the gospels can’t help,

to get a second opinion,

as with grave hypocrisies,

there is no good religion,

so, when you’re done with scripture,

and you want to remain in pocket,

just tune in to global station,

trust a panel show prophet.

  • Comment from author about the poem: In these modern times, the concept of faith is tested to extreme measures, that it cowers like an abandoned puppy in the street. Faith in the system, faith in positive change, and of course the big one, faith in humanity, dangerously dwindles, and as a result, we continue with our many wars, that both harm ourselves, and the planet we call home... but don't worry, be happy, choose your suspicions, and your heroes, even if they are putrid to others, wave a flag in support of the one who's got your back, perhaps they are the new messiah, in the form of a panel show prophet. I've chosen the "rushing traffic" banner picture, as when it comes to our core operation, the default setting is to do and not think, thus, a lot of clumsy quickness, leads to an awful lot of heartache. I hope that you enjoy the poem, and as always, I implore you, please do stay safe everyone!

Dear poet your words ring so very true. I find myself these days avoiding 24 hour TV news as well as internet. I may scroll past every once in a while just to keep up, but not to be inundated. I find real life in nature each day which keeps me grounded, and allows me to tolerate all else with a skeptical and questioning eye. A great and timely write!

Thanks for the read Bella, I'm glad that you enjoyed the poem and relate to it so well.

Just a thought, if there are dieticians out there saying "eat healthier", why aren't there "visual specialists" saying "read or watch healthier", I know it's a choice to exercise common decency and sense, but some droves need to take a hint first.

I, like you, hope to enjoy more of nature, to escape the loud concrete jungle made by mankind.

Thanks again, and I hope that all is well.

I love your suggestion for visual specialists, perhaps in that distant future we will much wiser!
