Dead Man; tell no lies

Silver

I was born a false prophet to a God with no love left to give

But second chances like candy on christmas

The taste too sweet for me to understand

A refined thing I lacked like glasses

I was a villain created to be proven wrong

And like any villain in a story, my death was written in the stars

The only truth in a maze of lies

A bargain with fate

But don't trust a word I say, darling

For I grew up in a gingerbread house

No hope to break the family curse

But the nightlight on my bed

Too bad it was shaped like a promise

What do you give a deadman who knows?

Nothing but peace

You didn’t understand that, though

Your hands gave and my hands never took

For they only knew how to cup gold from the sun

And darkness from the pools of my own dread

You still tried to force a knife into my hands

Strong enough to cut the silence I created

But how could I kill my own creation

I should ask you that, you would know

And so with my bed made and my grave dug

The dying man grins

For the stakes are too high and the bar set

But he has nothing to lose

Let me tell you a secret, darling

Even though a dead man knows

He still fears

He doesn’t fear death, no

He fears the darkness

Because the night light is flickering

And as fate weaves its thread

A villain comes closer to their destiny

But that is the way of life, my dear

He has nothing to lose, but he still lost it all

How ironic
