And though the night lies with none
She bore sleep, dreams and violent death
Blame, pain and misery, light did shun
Ruthless, avenging deceit in her breath
She blows the cold winds of hate and strife
Doom, the murderous fates
Bringing old age and end of life
She ends all that she creates

- Comment from author about the poem: Hesiod's account And Nyx (Night) bare hateful Moros (Doom) and black Ker (Violent Death) and Thanatos (Death), and she bare Hypnos (Sleep) and the tribe of Oneiroi (Dreams). And again the goddess murky Nyx, though she lay with none, bare Momos (Blame) and painful Oizys (Misery), and the Hesperides ... Also she bare the Moirai (Fates) and the ruthless avenging Keres (Death Fates) ... Also deadly Nyx bare Nemesis (Retribution) to afflict mortal men, and after her, Apate (Deceit) and Philotes (Friendship) and hateful Geras (Old Age) and hardhearted Eris (Strife).

Being unfamiliar with Greek mythology, once again I thank you for introducing me to something new and wonderful. I thoroughly enjoyed exploring this poem, your verse always shines for me.
Dear Bella I thank you so much for your review and most kind words. Having gone to public school, I have had to augment my classical learning on my own. Your words are most appreciated.
Brilliant!
that daughter of khaos and erebos
that salvation moonlit beam
to life's weary sailors, traversing
upon mythology's looming styx
in existence's
accursed, rivers of fate...
Nyx to light, as Moon to sun
Hesiods, to Homer
proving
Beyond posterity's blazing giants
exist shadows that anchor
humanity's annals to genius tethers
then again
what of Sappho's sisters:
