Tune: Love Unknown

('My song is love unknown')

Matthew 26 v.36-42

*********

Jesus took with Him, see

Unto Gethsemane

Peter, James, and John, He

Said, I sorrowful be

Exceedingly, very heavy

Deep emotion, distressingly

He said, Sit you here while

I go yonder, compile

My thoughts to pray, stay here

Take courage and not fear

But watch with me, a little way

He went and then these words did say

O my Father, if it

Possible, any whit

Let this cup pass from me

Suffering cup it be

Nevertheless not as I will

But as you will, my Father still

He to disciples came

They were asleep, the same

He said, Could you watch not

One hour? Or forgot

You to watch and pray, that you not

Fall weak into temptations lot

The spirit is indeed

Willing, on God does feed

But the flesh is weak so

May give up its prayer flow

Jesus said, Father, if this cup

Cannot pass from me, I it sup

What we feed we grow what we sleep we miss... or do we? There is something about compassion that is so easy to pass over and miss.
