Thought It Was Just A Song

Robert Isaacs Chiwala

Thought it was just a song

You wanted me to listen to

Not knowing the message so real

Your world growing dark and quiet

Probably it became silent

After some days trying to say hi

Still waiting -listening to the song

About a week -no response

Not knowing the message so real

Wanted to know how you were doing

Still waiting -no response

Asking your little sister

You had gone weeks ago

So, it was not just a song

Yet, I hoped everything was quite okay

Then I could see you

On the hospital bed trying to type

In pain, rather sending a song

"See You Again" like a good bye

Yet, you were still smiling in pain

So, every time I'm listening

To this song, I see you

On the hospital bed bidding your farewell

But, I have never been there in time

To fare thee well, rest well friend.
