April Affair

Fay Slimm.

April Affair.

This misty green morning

of tender Spring rain

muffles cacklings and

noisy  squarkings

as jackdaw-songs ruffle

quiet air with loud

raucous  chatterings.

Helloes from every male

ego croaks overtone

tunes to nearby lady-bird

shyness as makings

of nestings appear

with twiggy-thin gifts

collected with care

and dropped at feet

with unique bird-speak

for an April affair.

Orchestrated cacophony

played out with force

of pre-mating offers

each time the same

when call of Spring

urges arise again

by first of April.
