A Love Like This

ISolemlySwear2

Waking up to the smell of fresh coffee

Feeling the rays of sun on my face,

Seeing you smiling, leaning on the doorframe

Can’t describe the feeling, his warm embrace

You heal me with your touch, and feed me with your care

Gently mending the heart that was worn and torn beyond repair

Softly you whisper, “You’re perfect, I’m a lucky guy”

Makes me weightless, airless, this feeling, this high

You look at me with love, my gaze forever in your direction

I never have to beg, for time, attention or affection

You leave the house, “I’ll be home by 5:30”

And you mean it, I never have to wonder

I never have to wait and I never have to worry

You slowly mend the heart that you had no part in breaking

Relieving all the stress, the wounds you’re embracing

You’re my comfort, my happy place, my peace, my love

You’re as strong as a lion, but soft as a dove

I never thought I deserved, someone like you

You held me when I was broken even when I withdrew

You’re patient with me, my scars, you never rush

You give me assurance, you give me hope, a dream

A weight is lifted off my shoulders, finally on the same team

I feel safe here, I give you my rawest self you know?

You are my seamstress, my wounds and cuts you sew

I feel like a child again, that innocent kind of feel

I have a place of comfort,

A place that I can heal

You keep all your promises, and seal them with a kiss

I can finally breathe and smile again with a love like this
