Today

Cliona

Pause today, as she would pause, mid-making dinner, fork in hand, to hear about your day.

Sit back, as she would from her garden, earth to her elbows, back on her heels, to listen to your latest escapade.

Lift your head, as she would from her crossword, let it fall to her lap, to smile at your news.

Be still a moment and be with her.

Let your heart feel the loss.

Open up the aching wound and grieve.

And breathe.

Tomorrow we go on again.
