Hopeless

Andrew Durbin

Feelings whirl throughout my mind,

And when I take the time to find

Just why I sometimes feel this way,

I do not have a thing to say.

For some are anger, some are fear,

And some are distant and unclear.

They crash upon my weary heart,

And try to tear my soul apart.

I cry and beg and shout and scream,

But feelings have their own regime.

Sometimes, I feel like shutting down.

My thoughts are always there to drown.

I try to surface for some air,

But they attempt to keep me there.

They grasp my brain and hold it fast.

I do not know how long I’ll last.
