Tune: Lux Eoi
('Alleluia, Alleluia! Hearts to heaven')
Luke 24 v.13-32 parts
********
Two disciples to Emmaus
On their journey they did press
Talked of all that happened those days
With wondering and dismay
But the risen Jesus drew near
And unto them did appear
They did not know Him straight away
Though they knew later that day
'Twas when they unto the village
Of Emmaus neared, their stage
Said to Jesus, Abide with us
For dusk falls we do confess
And Jesus did then with them stay
They did know Him in the way
He took bread, broke it, then it gave
Risen Saviour, still does save
Spiritual eyes then were open
They did recognise Him then
But He then vanished from their sight
He who is of life the Light
They said, Did not our hearts burn in
Us, time He talked with us when
On our journey, and did explain
Scriptures of Himself shown plain
