My Angel of Love

Accidental Poet

A shy and virgin heart

I learned of love while just a boy

Young, naïve and blind of love

Suddenly awakened to that joy

Without reserve I tread this new ground

Clueless where it might take me

But I without hesitation

Followed wholeheartedly

Her name of Sharon

The kiss of Heaven upon my lips

Never before had I known

Anything to enthrall me like this

So, I put my heart

In the hands of love

A precarious move, maybe

Trusting Cupid’s stars above

Even so, something inside me

Told me to follow this quest

It may be a thorn tree in the garden

To be in her heart more than a guest

So now many years later

She’s still Queen of my heart

And I without regret

My Angel of Love from the start

"My Angel of Love" is a sincere and romantic portrayal of the experience of falling in love at a young age and trusting in the power of love to guide one's journey.

Thank you M for your spot on understanding of my poem. I never questioned the force driving me to follow that light of love. I have wondered why I was chosen for this gift, but never out of regret.

Do you know what my fine literary friend, I could feel this coming as soon as I thought about turning the last page .. How lucky is she to be loved in such a way and for so long .. Oh and what a fitting theme tune you have pinned here too .. 'thorn tree' by Derek and the Dominos could not be bested for one who was gifted with either the name Sharon or Rose or indeed Sharon Rose like one of my own past but often remembered loves was ... Thanks N. I often wonder how she remembers me, hopefully with a smile of fondness. But I guess I'll not know until we're both in Heaven. I hope your own past love remembers you as well. 🌹
