Heart and Mind

lukestri

The heart and mind are oft in warring phase,

E'en though they do the same one man comprise.

When both make a decision, neither stays,

And leave the man in groaning, bitter sighs.

"Look here," the heart declares with mirthful glee,

"I see a woman, who may bring thee cheer."

The mind, adverse, says "No, this cannot be."

The way, once crystal, now is all but clear.

But understand, though thick and thin await,

The mind and heart thine comrades will endure.

All one can do is glad accept his fate,

And know one day that love will find him sure.

Remember then, when heart and mind contest,

One day, you too may find true peace and rest.
