No Response - Daisie-Lyn Fuller

Daisie-Lyn Fuller

I’m waiting impatiently for the phone to ring.
Just on a random Friday night,
Praying you received my message,
Pacing the floor once the hours started going by,
And so I called you instead.
No response.

You promised you’d answer.
‘Just give me 5 minutes babe’
The blue ticks staring at me with dishonesty
Who are you calling if it’s not me?
And so I asked if there was someone else.
No response.

I ring your number once more, it’s urgent.
‘Just give me a second’ the message reads,
I don’t have another second to live,
I’m trapped in a corner, bleeding out.
And you don’t even care, leaving me for dead.
No response.

I thought I phoned you! (heehee). Was it me you were waiting for? lol.

You should have answered my calls!

I thought I did. It kept saying 'wrong number'. Eh?? lol.

I love this, the structure is interesting - how every stanza ends the same, I especially love how the penultimate line of the first and last stanzas rhyme with each other with that ‘ed’ sound (‘I called you instead’ / ‘leaving me for dead’) - not sure if that was intentional but either way I love how it ties the whole story together!

Thankyou so much! I'm trying to change the structure up to make the poems different to one another and I'm glad you noticed it
