Christmas

Lynn Partridge

Its Christmas time,
Bells chime.
Everyone is after Amazon Prime -
To ensure Christmas presents
Are delivered on time.
But in all the hustle and bustle
Do we actually think
Of the true meaning of Christmas?
That little baby,
Born in Bethlehem;
Laid to rest in a manger,
In a stable,
Because there was no room at the inn.
Or is the true meaning of Christmas
A little nearer to home?
Being kind and thoughtful,
Patient, loving and caring
To all the people we know.
But is caring far too complicated these days?
I think the world itself
Does not know
The true meaning of Christmas anymore
