Afraid

salahidden

I told a priest I am afraid of dying
That I can't imagine me so still
He said I know it's mystifying
But the trade is to be part of one will

I told my doctor I am afraid of dying
That illness will suddenly sweep me away
She said i agree it's terrifying
Which is why you should listen to my advice day to day

I told a philosopher I'm afraid of dying
That I will one day drop like a fly
He said that's not edifying
Water fears being dry

I told my grandmother I'm afraid of dying
Of my world being a hole in the ground
She said there's no use in talking or crying
To a woman in a burial mound
