Rhapsody of finite exuberance

L. B. Mek

Rhapsody of finite exuberance

(after T. S. Eliot)

Twitch to that breeze of sneeze

Swipe, at nose tips that surmise

Seek ye a meaningful vindication

Glimpse ye a gleaming pathology

Laden horizon with choice’s gravy

Label heritage as causality’s grave,

Finesse life so as to incarcerate fate

Drew drops as our tears crystallised

Gloved warmth gifting stoic resolve

Scarlet scarves as necklaces of hope

Lament curating our heart’s fortification

Woe, inspiring meaningful conversation,

Coughing gaiety to enrapture levity

Epidemic of laughter as our reward

Excess our life’s statement of success

Twilight as nature’s daily exuberance

Existence as anathema to finiteness

Rhapsody our poetic transcendence

L.B. This poem is loaded, crammed, stuffed with lines of great depth. It requires multiple readings. A couple of lines that stood out to me "Finesse life so as to incarcerate fate:" "Lament curating our heart’s fortification" They provoked many thoughts and deeper emotions. Also sriking chords of recognition was "Coughing gaiety to enrapture levity Epidemic of laughter as our reward" How true this act that we put on, whether to convince others or ourselves. And a theme I have been proposing your line"Excess our life’s statement of success" said it all.

Can't hardly shake the connection with the common cold, which the whole family is now sniffling away through. The doctors have done their due diligence and told us to rest up and ingest lots of fluids, we got the common cold! Finally.
