The Astute of Wonder

Julian Meredith

Notice of absence from Julian Meredith
I'm sorry I havent got back to you immediately I'm caught up.

The astute of wonder

How they fall,

Like ribbon of lead silk

Pertaining to a wonder of love.

The heart sings of songs long forgotten

With the rubble of the past longing to see how we ascertain our lyrical future.

Time. It pushes.

It rushes like a river in full flow,

The beauty of it as the sun glistens off its almost pearlescent surface.

Fractions of light breaking into the atmosphere,

Shining brightly then lost forever, flowing into eternity.

Never are we truly held in substance,

A meeting of minds and hearts only to be destroyed by one another,

The void of the heart ever soaring, higher, higher it goes.

Reach to the surface and fall to the depths,

This is all our love can hold.

A flower, blown by the wind as it spins in the time of the river,

Landing gently once the wind dies down.

Soared so high to its unattainable target.

River, call me, calm me, where is the light?

A swell of heart may warm the darkest of rooms,

But inevitably the fire will starve,

Killing all.

If we are to kiss, then where do our hearts essence go,

Longing for completion of starvation,

The river flows on, lost, shining into an empty sky.

I dreamt, I was able to fly,

Wrapped in ribbons of lead that felt like silk,

There on earth standing by the edge of the river,

Ebbing away at the shoreline.

Tiny specks of soil flowing, falling away

As the heart connected I lost my way.

I was soil. Not to be seen,

Yet feeling like I flow and floating away down that river.

Freedom gravity away,

Yet pushing back on ever lasting currents before me.

When the sun stops shining we will be free again,

Lasting into the night sky.

Moonlight dancing on our flow, soil long forgotten, sunken, still.

A new day dawns, for the flow moves on, and my heart is still, here, hearing.

The river flows onward.
