Many a house do I know of ,
Some I've seen, some I've heard of, some I've read about, some I imagine and one that I live in.
As I pass by the first house on the street,
My feet against tarred road echoes in the house,
The outer adornment could not make up for the inner emptiness,
Pardon me Mr. and Mrs. Rodents for ignoring your existence,
But thou presence does not make up for it's emptiness.
The second house is a reflection of how foolish some men are,
Those men who in a chase of the best, forgets to sit down and plan their budget,
Thereby leaving the house to the mercy of Mr. Rain and Mrs. Poaceae.
The third is a singing house,
Day and night, It sings of their misfortune,
The misfortune of the man whom beauty led him to bondage and,
The misfortune of the woman whom greediness led her to bondage,
The bondage called marriage,
And now they feed on bickering all year long.
Before I reach the threshold of the forth house,
The voices of the bairns calls out to me as they play on the lawn,
A solid house, it is.
And finally I arrive at the last house on the street, my home it is,
With a lot of things to think about,
Not only today but tomorrow and the next day after and for months to come,
What kind of house would I build when I grow up?
The lady with the smartpen,

- Comment from author about the poem: The ‘houses’ in this poem signifies more than just that. It means home, love and eternity and not the building but the type of people living in the building.
