Keeping Undomesticated Animals

Robert Isaacs Chiwala

I cannot even imagine it trying

Perhaps frustrated efforts

Maybe letting it to be wild

But giving it all freedom

It might go much wild

Yet bounding its freedom

It feels much captivated

Then it starts hating you

It feels deprived of some privacy

Like you are not respecting it

But I do understand it

Sometimes it is just too boring

Sometimes like you are protecting it

So confusing like you are overprotecting it

Like when you are young and free

All you want is to explore and have some fun

Going around the world discovering

Obvious things in existence you would ever know

Travelling from coast to coast -though nature

Discovering deep valleys, beautiful mountains and thick forests

Hoping one day to fly into the sky

To breathe some independent odours

Yet, trying to keep it safe from predators

It feels much captivated, like being bound

Overlooking the danger around us

Oh, minus the danger

It does make some sense

Like I don't really care about it

All I respect is my ego

To have it, so much pride

After all, to keep it is a beautiful pet

That every prefer wants to behold

Like it is marooned to its fate

Like I am just a preyer too

I think it is right in its sense

I think it is making some sense
