8th Grade Love

ToIgniteTheFire

The first memory of you, 6 years ago
were you looking at me, beaming and bright
the creases at your eyes, happiness in galore
the beauty of your smile, the light of my life.

I woke up today, confused and wanting
the ring of your laughter, pleasant and fulfilling.
You are the night, expansive and soothing
I am the moon, distant and yearning.

I held your hands, fingers long and thin,
how I longed to have you in my arms.
To burn away my pain and my loneliness,
to bring in my joy and my happiness.

Every day to school was my pilgrimage to you
you, who filled the void and lit up my world
you, who made me laugh because of how witty you were
you, who made me cry because of how unattainable you are.

It's been 6 years you know, since that fateful day,
fateful? if it was then why did it end?
I knew it back then and I know it now too,
I could never be yours, you are just too perfect.

This is a poem to the love of my life,
All that remains are what if's and sighs.
I haven't been thinking about you as much as I did,
but never be mistaken, you are the love of my life.
