The Desolate Deceitful

orchidee

Tune: St Bees

('Hark my soul it is the Lord')

Psalm 52

********

Why boast you man in mischief?

Trouble me, give no relief

The goodness of God endures

Continually, He ensures

Your tongue mischief does devise

They be foolish and unwise

Like a sharp razor do you

Work deceitfully anew

You love evil more than good

None can trust you, I ne'er would

You love lying more than right

Sinful ways are your delight

You love words that devour

Oppress, persecute each hour

God shall likewise you destroy

For ever, all your employ

He shall take you away for

He shall remove your place sure

Root out of land of living

Desolate in everything

The righteous shall see and fear

They shall laugh at him, he here

Did not make the Lord his strength

But strengthened himself at length

But I like a green olive

Tree am, in God's house I live

I trust in His mercy e'er

It shall depart from me ne'er

I will praise you Lord for e'er

For you did help to me share

And I on your name do wait

Before the saints it good, great
