The Fate of Injustice

Emily Bradshaw

Wake up and smell the roses. Our once great

Country has fallen into a warzone

Where our leaders perch on a bloody throne,

And where hate brings masses towards a grim fate.

With insolence you chose to aggravate

The youth breaking from pressure we have known

We will inherit so before you groan

About our flippancy, let’s set this straight.

Your wisdom outraged a belligerent

Generation whom will shine a light on

The darkness your tyranny has spread.

Masses will be free from your ignorant

Laws that force them to hide. Your power gone.

Your youth will end the injustice you bred.

Wow! This is such a powerful message! Any inspiration?

Thank you for your interest! This collection was one I started immediately after the recent legislation against trans youth was passed but some pieces in this collection were written after other instances. My second poem was in wake of the overturning of Roe v Wade. As a member of a younger generation, and as someone who can't vote or be involved politically yet, I am tired of sitting back and watching my country fall back into the hate it originated from. This was my inspiration.

That is some opening to what I hope will be the series of promised poems. Thank you Emily.
      Well articulated and paced.
You and your like minded youthful associates are the only hope for a world on the verge of destruction.
I hope you find MPS an enjoyable and satisfying place. It is interactive so feel free to read other's work, comment and respond to commentary on your own poetry.

Thank you very much! I just recently started sharing my work and I'm glad it's finally out in the world now. I appreciate your support, I hope as well that as the younger generations take over we can right the wrongs of the past.

Hang in there Emily - the only way - but it won't be easy....
