How dare you fear!
Show up in my path
and distort my sight.
How dare you fear!
steal my joy
and stir up my pain.
I never invited you in
but you showed up anyway.
You took up all my space
and you made me your slave.
Your torments were real and
your grip was strong.
When I thought you left
You returned with the troubles of this world.
I was once a girl who dreamed
But now I'm drowning in tears.
You have slaughtered my confidence
and crippled my self-esteem.
You kept me in the dark
cold and alone,
I have given you great powers
but now am taking back control

- Comment from author about the poem: I can only write about the things I experienced. I lived in fear for many years. Fear is a killer, it consumes and squeeze the life out of you. It removes your joy and peace and hinders your destiny. But God didn't give us the spirit of fear but of power, love and a sound mind.
