Sister Rose

Joakim Bergen

Sweet sister rose!

Shelter me twixt your petals,

Warm my frigid corpse!

Long have winter winds been

My companions, and the snow

My coat. No more! Shelter me

From dusk and dawn, from Sun

And Moon! I beg, I am nude and

Lost! Dress me up, cover the shame

Of love; make me a prisoner

In your court of thorns!
