Tune: Margaret
('O love that wilt not let me go')
Psalm 22 v.1-5 and v.27
**********
My God, why have you me forsaken?
Why you your presence from me taken?
Why so far from helping me today?
My roaring, groaning hear I pray
Bring light unto my day
O my God, I cry in daytime
But you her me not in life's rhymes
And in the night too I do cry
Am not silent, to you I fly
O save me, be nwo nigh
But Lord, you still are holy
That ever your nature will be
O you that inhabits the praises
Of Israel, worship each raised
Thorough all of life's phases
Our fathers they did in you trust
Though they were human too, mere dust
You did hear them, did them deliver
You Saviour, Lord, and life-giver
Who does reign for ever
They cried to you, and were delivered
They trusted and were in you assured
They were not confounded, ashamed
For you as their Lord they had named
Their prayers to you they framed
The cross does bring to all salvation
Open to all of every nation
All the world shall remember and turn
To the Lord, to Him their hearts burn
They through life Him discern

Do you sing this poem like a hymn
Yes!
Passion and pain are so close their borders intermingle.
