Robot Self

Audrey A.

Do you even have control?
Or are you just a troll?
A marionette tied with strings
You can't even keep on your rings

Don't you think that's because you'll die
If you don't see what's in your eye
Can't you feel the songs
And how they move the wrongs?

The buttons inside that you try to hide
Your shadow knows where so you must abide
'Cause when it takes over you from the inside
There is nowhere for you to hide

You'll watch from the outside like your divine
But really, my friend, you won't be fine
'Cause there's nowhere for you to hide
There is nowhere for you to hide

You lost yourself to the elf
Got put up on the shelf
Now you're stuck between
Expanding your seams

Zoning out isn't what it's about
You should really just pout
That's just autopilot, a robot self
Making you believe you are the elf

A piece of you that you can't see
Now with access to the sea
You gave it power and let it fly
The same way others live to die

Take that ring off your eye
Pull your wings up high
Flow it out the drain
And not all over your brain

Use it to clean and purify your thought
Anything else and it's all for naught
Muscle memory is a powerful thing
Keep your cool and lessen the ring

You'll start folding time, going blank
While you're insides will feel many a shank
Unable to process what you ate
Catatonic with visions of hate

The more you struggle and fight
The harder the strings pull tight
Maybe you will learn from the pit
This vow is not kept as a puppet
