High up in the evergreen I sat
Clutching the branch below me
Willing myself to ignore the thoughts
Screaming at me to jump,
To just let go and lean forward
To watch my life flash before me
As I fall 40 feet down
Catching bruises and scars on the way
To land in a pile of bones at the bottom
At the end of life
Where it all started,
High up in the evergreen
