Over and under and through the bend
I met you once, I'll meet you again
across the way, above the Seine
nothing quite like the parting of friends...
I send you a letter, you send me one back
postcards and pictures and bits of nonsense
some cents for a stamp
and I scrawl your address-
over and under and to the mailman!
Oh, I wait the reply- how long might that be?
If I can't hear your voice, your pen shall be thee
but I miss that soft look,
the scrunch of your eyes!
You write to me beneath other skies.
Faraway friend
over and under and through the bend
you should come visit, if you can
I'm across the way, above the Seine
'cause there's nothing quite like
the reunion of friends.
