I Wish I Could Live

Robert Isaacs Chiwala

When you are free from physical pain

Sometimes so stressed up

Tormented by psychological pain

All you wish is death

Sometimes when you are very ill

Pains consuming your breath

Realising life is deal

Whishing for a miracle to live

When darkness is drawing nigh

All you wish is light

When the day is long and full of trouble

All you wish is night

When Malaria struck me down

All I could see was darkness

The tomorrow I was not sure to live

The day I thought would be my last

When poison contaminated my breakfast

The pains I suffered in a day

My breath getting shallow

In the night praying to God for sunrise

I forgot I had wished to die

When Hades gates opened

And death drawn nigh

I wished I could live again

This is quite a confronting tale.Being so sick as to wish to die is quite awful
