in the darkest night

lisztmsv

in darkness and in strife

i journey through the blackest night.

there's no path that's clear to see

it looks all the same to me.

whether i hesitate left or right

i can only grip my hands tight_

the paths blur into one,

only now i have no idea of which one

the sky is empty of  stars,

company i would have cherished to keep,

only now they are hidden from me.

walking in the dark all alone, the only footsteps are my own.

mindless shapes threaten to escape the dark corners of my mind,

making monsters & myths come alive.

sweat drips down my back,

i keep wishing for the thing i lack.

the forest & trees threaten to swallow me whole,

whereas i can only run & gasp for breath

i desperately wish for rest.

i repeat my endless prayer,

'please creep where i may see the path so clear to me,

the path home, where im not lost or alone,

the journey to father

gives love like no other'

a voice so faint you have to stop to hear,

'i am with you, so never fear,

you were never isolated,

you were never alone,

you have forgotten my darling girl

forgotten me & the way home.'

i turn back to the familiar voice,

one so gentle & warm,

that reminds me of father back home.

a glow so faint, rises & spreads & lights the very spot it stands.

memories so bleak, images so dark peak to the surface

long forgotten.

'you have been lost & never moving,

grab my hand now my sweet girl & lets return to the home

we are meant to go'

grabbing his hand as tears fall down my face

we embrace

his voice whispers,

'Oh sweet daughter it has been forever ago,

i have missed you so'.
