hidden motives and different perspectives

Debake

why does truth surrender to a well-told lie
can people love someone lesser than me
do fantasies hurt less if you refuse to cry
I'll convince then she's trash I'll be the remedy

why are hearts given to the loud and heartless
I'll tell my boss she's no good and that she's a liar
are the rumors smaller when said by the "harmless"
make her dodge bullets and watch for the gunfire

why do people avoid me and be so passive aggressive
I'll make everyone think she's crazy and make her sound dumb
as my progress increases, why does hers become regressive
let her do all the work and take credit she can have the crumbs

why does that one coworker avoid talking and eye contact
I'll make her think it's not real, it's all in her head
are others afraid to stand up for me cause they might get sacked
I'll make the boss' think she's crazy, write her sins in blood red

  • Comment from author about the poem: I'm dealing with this one coworker at work who lies to the bosses about me and takes credit for what I do and doesn't do anything, and I'm pretty sure I'm dealing with a diagnosable narcissistic personality disorder, and this poem switches line by line between our perspectives and what we are doing
