Don’t Try To Fix What Has Never Been Broken

Yael

don’t generalize broken people by your past experiences

don’t undermine our humanity and label us under one single category

we don’t weep agony for attention, the eyes that crawl see what they want, we have never force them to

don’t depict yourself as a savior of the lost when you’re the same man that would
call us out on our betrayal

we’ve done nothing wrong in the eyes of the lord, our reputation might be smeared
and yes we might not be all too well put together

but that doesn’t change the fact that we constantly endure a society of oppression

in the eyes of the many we are psychopaths

but through my eyes I’d hope you’d stray away from such, and in doing so you’d see
us for what we have truly always wept and sow.

  • Comment from author about the poem: I think that a lot of people assume the worst of anyone who isn’t put together, there’s always judgment around people who are addicts, depressed, disabled or just simply different from the norm; my poem is that most if not all of these people don’t need attention of any sort and do not need pity nor unwanted attention, because even hurt people are entitled to feel what they want to feel without being judged.
