Mixed Messages

Firefall

You said I spoke mixed messages

I thought I was being honest

But should have known

Some truths are best left unsaid

You wanted to know my heart

And made me think it was safe to speak

Breaking down the wall I so carefully built

Coaxing out feelings I've never dared to share

You said my thoughts were a mystery

And told me you knew the difference between loving someone and being in love

Then you said you lied

Maybe now you understand reality isn't always black and white

You said I spoke mixed messages

I'm sorry I hurt you

I should have never shared my feelings for you

For the bittersweet truth crushes my soul

    'only the brave, truly love
    rest of us
    merely play at romance'
    cherish the fact that you're
one of the brave few, and pity
    those who'll never know
    or experience
    what you're capable of...
(hope the right one comes along
    stay strong!)
