Am I To Be

Theodore Zendarski

If it's your will, am I to be seen
And if that's so, will anyone look
But it's out of my hands
Please give me a chance
But not as I will

If it's your will, am I to be heard
And if that's so, will anyone listen
But it's out of my hands
Please give me a chance
But not as I will

If it's your will, am I to be touched
And if that's so, will anyone feel
But it's out of my hands
Please give me a chance
But not as I will

If it's your will, am I to be fed
And if that's so, will anyone feed
But it's out of my hands
Please give me a chance
But not as I will

If it's your will, am I to be held
And if that's so, will anyone hold
But it's out of my hands
Please give me a chance
But not as I will

If it's your will, am I to be loved
And if that's so, will you love me
But it's out of my hands
Please give me a chance
But not as I will

If it's your will, am I to be
And if that's so, do you really want me
But it's out of my hands
Please give me a chance
But not as I will

It was her will, and given free
And so long ago, she accepted it to be
But now it's in your hands
Please give me a chance
As Mary did He

  • Comment from author about the poem: Am I To Be is simple, childlike. Not only does it speak for the unborn child but it also acknowledges the existence of our free will. It is the prayer of the forsaken soul.

I love the part where you said "If it's your will, am I to be loved" I love that. I think that many kids are left without love from their families which is super important. And some of them have families who pretended to show love or think that they do but in reality, they are just hurting them and leaving their kid's souls destroyed. I just loved that line, nice poem
