Earthquake

Ebony

Suddenly, a terrible sound
A massive tremor, shakes the ground
Voiceless screams, let out no sound
Dreadful silence all around
Terror clouds the dusty ground
Darkness fills the empty spaces
Fearful eyes engulf their faces
Brother, sister, uncle, aunt
Mummy, daddy, one last glance
Nothing left, the air is cold.
Silent breathing, don't take my soul
Hang on baby, one last try
Hold me mummy comes the cry
ts all in vain, a heavy loss
Never knowing the final cost

A motherless son goes insane
For the boy next door,
It's much the same
They search and search to ease their pain
The streets were full, abandoned now
Hustle bustle, silent sounds
No cars  or markets, schools or shops
No small cafes for morning stops,
No cats or dogs, or even sheep,
No pulling carts to collect dry wheat
Its now all gone reduce to rubble
Hell on earth - one long hard struggle
Bodies left, they'll soon turn to dust
Hopelessly they'll make a fuss
Escape the dread, they'll bury the dead
Foundations gone, one by one
How will they live Whom will they have
How will time pass Will memories last
The future now, seems so uncertain
Rebuilding lives, the final curtain
homes and hearts, just make a start
They pray their Lord will make them strong
Until another tremor shakes the ground..
