A Poet's Confession

¥in Lin

you're not a rose

you're nothing like spring

you're not sweet like chocolates

nor are you as expensive as a ring

"am I even something?" you ask

and I say, "to me you're lily

more than red love, a white purity

and I like when you act silly

to me you're winter

the period for home and comfort

to me which is you

a place where I cannot be hurt

you're not sweet 'cause you act cold

but in your heart, you care

that's what makes you endearing

I know, I swear

you're not expensive

'cause you're not something to be sold

you're something to keep forever

something for life I'd hold

your kitty-cat face

and that glittering smile

can't be compared to none

I haven't felt like that for a while

but now that I'm looking in your eyes

I know this isn't new"

I leaned closer and whispered

"I love you"
