With Those I Love

Oscar Auliq-Ice

Of all the moments I've lived through,
There's one memory that always shines through.
A day of pure joy and happiness,
A day that fills me with nothing but gladness.

It was a summer's day, warm and bright,
The kind of day that makes everything feel right.
I was with my family, and we were all smiles,
Together we laughed and ran for miles.

We headed to the beach, with buckets and spades,
And set up camp in the sun's warm rays.
We built sandcastles, dug deep holes,
Splashed in the waves, let our cares unfold.

My little sister built a mermaid's kingdom,
My dad taught us how to skip stones.
My mom read us stories under the shade,
As we ate sandwiches she had lovingly made.

We played games and ate ice cream,
Chased each other, it was like a dream.
The sun slowly set on the horizon,
And we all held hands, feeling a bond risen.

The day was perfect, and as it drew to an end,
I knew that this was a memory to cherish and defend.
For in this moment, with those I love,
I felt nothing but happiness, a gift from above.

And now whenever I feel low or blue,
I think back to that day and all we went through.
And I smile, knowing that this memory will stay,
Forever in my heart, to brighten up any day.
