Pleas In Plagues

Tune: Kingsfold

('I heard the voice of Jesus say')

1 Kings 8 v.35-40

********

King Solomon prayed, Lord, if heaven

Is shut up, no rain then

If because of our sins, if we

Pray unto you, so be

And turn from our sins, hear, forgive

Then we again shall live

So teach us the good way to go

Your laws to do and know

And grant us rain upon your land

Sent down by your good hand

The land you have given unto

Your people, bless, renew

And if there be famine or blight

Pestilence in our sight

Mildew, locust, caterpillar

Whate'er plague may confer

Whate'er plague in land or city

Or whate'er sickness be

When prayer and supplication made

By your people outlaid

Then hear in heaven your dwelling place

See the troubles we face

And forgive, give unto each one

According as [their] deeds done

For each one knows plague of own heart

And you know every part

Of every one, you, you only

Know each one completely

Look on us, answer our prayers here

That you we godly fear

Live in the land which you provide

There none more blessed beside

Never could figure out plagues it seemed like beating someone to make them like you. Nice job on the rhyme and verse.
