The Night

sorenbarrett

Fear not the darkness and its peace

Suffering comes with the day

Revel in obscurities release

With babes and angels lay

With the softness of the night

comes serene restful sleep

Oh glorious slumber without fright,

close your eyes to where dreams creep

As the event horizon we traverse

in other dimensions we fall,

where with oracles we converse

From here we may not return at all

Falling into that black hole,

where time has no meaning

As weight of darkness takes control

its shadows reflect hope's gleaning

Gravity seduces heavy eyes,

augmenting as the singularity approaches

Light's penumbra on blackness lies,

without illumination, Purusharthas encroaches

  • Comment from author about the poem: The four ends of life in Hinduism dharma, kama, artha and moksha are Purusharthas These provide Hindus with opportunities to act morally and ethically and lead a good life. Throughout their lives, Hindus attempt to end the cycle of samsara and behave in a way that provides good karma in this life and the next. Dharma is related to a person’s true purpose and is concerned with a person’s duty and the actions the person takes. Kama the Sanskrit word means love, desire and pleasure. Artha means prosperity. Moksha is the ultimate aim in life for Hindus. It means to be saved (salvation).

    Brilliant!
    no need for explanations
    your poetry, transcends
    a need for context's clarity:
    ('Light's penumbra on blackness lies,'

    'Gravity seduces heavy eyes,'

'As weight of darkness takes control'

    'Falling into that black hole,'

'As the event horizon we traverse
    in other dimensions we fall,
    where with oracles we converse
From here we may not return at all'

'With the softness of the night'

    'glorious slumber without fright,'

'Fear not the darkness and its peace'

    'Revel in obscurities release')
    I fear, you fail
    to realise your own brilliance
    my kind friend
I bow to your superior talent!

L.B. I thank you so much for your most kind and generous words. i am just an average amateur poet with occasional feelings and emotions to express. Your kindness far exceeds my abilities.
