Sunset Galore

klopezdee

A beautiful sunset lying across the horizon

Like many other sunsets I have seen before

But this one was different with a hint of orange yellow and blue

Mixed like a smoothie with tropical flavors

The sand seeps through my bare toes

as I step closer to the rushing tides

I am startled as the rush of freezing water hits my feet

But as time passes, my body adapts.

I stay standing for awhile

Feeling as if life begins to be still with me

But the harsh reality grips my throat once again

It shakes my body repeatedly

Again and again and again.

Closing my eyes, I let the setting sun soak into my skin

Hoping to stretch out this peace for longer.
