My only one.

Esra

Cause there we are again, passing our broken bridges

And you were crossing the parallels for no passing by’s

From when my heart broke, my skin and bones I am an ashen rare fall of snow trying to keep you warm

Because in my hearts first fall of break, I still remember my tears, and how it fell, while it remembered you

You call off the troops to march on my broken veins

And from the cracks of my heart, I still remember the words breaking it back from our old passage ways

And now I’ll never be the same, because this is a state of blue

And no other shade of blue would do

That burgundy on my sky when you splashed the red

And how the rain rushed into me and left the stains on me

I made you my temple, my hero, my sky

I use my best senses to paint you in gold

I polish pages in your book until they gleam and shine

I hope the words in it matter now

I welcomed you with the hero’s smile

Break free me and take out the dagger then leave me in ruins

While you were making a new world for others, Where was I?

Why couldn’t I be the one you celebrated?

All of the violence of the dog days

But then I looked up at you and thought;

My home of fun, my sorrows and gun, my aurous and the only one.

  • Comment from author about the poem: This poem is about a person whom I thought could never turn their back on me. Things that could only happen between me and them, just between the sand and the sea, like that. This is my only one.
