When I shut myself in my room,
It is not because I don't want to engage - I do.
My energy just drains too quickly;
It is a rechargeable battery that doesn't hold its charge and lasts longest when I am alone.
Certain circumstances have damaged the charge capacity;
People, traumatic events and trying to understand the reasons behind it all have weakened the cells in the battery, limiting how much energy I could spend.
And for me,
The only way to recharge was by disconnecting with the world and everyone in it,
By creating a physical barrier between the two.
It was by closing that door and doing what I enjoyed.
So, if you come to my home and see that door closed,
Just know I am recharging.
