I sit here thinking
wondering, contemplating
Did I say the wrong thing?
Should I have said nothing at all?

Relationships ruined
Awkward moments
Silence, so much silence

Stay quiet, don't fuss
Let them say what they want
It'll be over soon
They'll get tired of it
Funny to them, not to me

It's just a joke
They all say that
But why isn't it funny to me?
Why does it hurt?

Finally gain confidence
Speak up for myself
Everyone is so angry
Why did I say it?
Why did I talk back?

The lights are out
I lie in bed
I am thinking
Wondering, contemplating again
A flicker in the dark
A warmness in my heart
I did it, I stood up for myself
It was worth it
I am worth it.
