A Night For Us

Rohan Regi

When I gaze back on that night alone,
Naught fills my sight but thee.
Nothing could cloud my vision,
Or sway my thoughts that eve.

That weary day did not deter
My staying by your side that night.
For I beheld just you,
Mused just of thee.
That moment belonged to just us two
Yet brought both joy and sorrow.

Sitting beside thee, grasping thy hands,
That night was ours alone.
Though both our eyes knew
The depth of our care
And what impedes us,
From living our lives side by side.

But we remained content, nonetheless,
To live, at least, that night.

All fences fell in that one sweet embrace
I wished we could tarry forever
But all nights must end.

With heavy hearts and misty eyes
Dawn came, reminding me
That night abides within me still
In my aching heart alone
Lies that precious night,
A night for us.
