Even the cold air
That threatens to freeze to bone
Seems warm and light
When words cut through.
Two careful birds
Entwined in flight and song
Seem unbothered
Even when the rain invades soul.
For they know
That when the moment calls
Their descent to hell
Will be within each other’s company.
