A Night Spot

Keith Jeffries

A Night Spot

The night air was alive

with pulsating sounds

of sensual music.

Glasses chinked as more

drinks were called for.

It was a place of intent

coated with merriment.

Dancers gyrated and eyes

flashed as lips puckered

and some swore.

Furtive glances of ardent

desire pierced the night.

This was no ordinary party.

The huntsman had blown his horn

and the hounds were unleashed,

as a prelude to this Babylonian

feast.

Strobe lights and sequined walls,

glittered in an enticing brawl.

Each venue drummed a different beat

as fatigued dancers took a seat.

Sweat glistened bodies drenched

the floor as the dancers all called

for more.

On and on the night wore on,

a hazy blue mingled with all the fun.

New faces arrived as others

slumped into a stupor of skunk.

Bodies were groped as others stroked.

Lips caressed as some undressed.

The bewitching hour now arrived

it was the time to find a stride.

Nods of ascent and the occasional wink

were sufficient to establish a coveted link.

Then off into the night for carnal

pleasure and endless delights.
