ALONE

Iris May

ALONE

What went wrong, exactly?
Is this even real to be in such pain?
Where are they all?

Both lights and sounds are absent.
Darkness is all I can see and hear,
I feel a tear running down my face.

Who is at fault?
No one, since I alone am to blame for,

Unknowingly, I observe the sun,
as it rises and sets each day in order to comprehend.
I'm standing motionless and contemplating the meaning of life,
when a mental fog begins to descend.

I lose all sense of time and reflect on my personal traumas.
What went wrong, exactly?
To be in such anguish…
