Ruin

AJ Lang

I am the rubble left behind
from a fortress built from stone.
Impregnable. Unbreakable. Broken.

I am the bodies floating on the frozen ocean,
All the remains from the greatest ship ever built.
Unsinkable. Lost beneath the waves.

I am the shattered pieces of a
priceless thousand-year-old statue.
The ash-preserved city of Pompeii.
I am the places and the people
that thought they would never fall.

I am me. I am you.
I am Ruin.

Ruin and ruination is like a constant ghost that haunts humanity and civilisation. Ghost towns and ruins are more than tourist spots and historical markers. Thanks for sharing and welcome to MPS!
